This report sought approval for increases to the establishment for Planning.  Planning had been under increased pressure from an upturn in development applications and issues relating to staff absence and resignations.  These had contributed to a backlog of cases in enforcement, validation and development control, which impacted on the ability to deliver emerging workloads.

Cabinet was satisfied that the increases to the establishment for Planning were necessary in order to meet the demands of the service.
