This report seeks consideration and approval of a draft Social Media Strategy and Policy for adoption by Council.

In accepting the recommendations, Cabinet will approve and recommend to Council that the Social Media Strategy and Policy are approved and that the Council opens its corporate social media accounts in May 2018.

The reason for the decision:

Cabinet was satisfied that the Social Media Strategy and Policy supported the Council’s engagement with communities and stakeholders and would enable a proactive flow of information on Council issues, developments and activity.

THE DECISION:

That Cabinet approves and recommends to Council that the Social Media Strategy and Policy attached at Annex A and B of the report be adopted.
